I am a neuropsychologist here at Rivia Mind. I previously worked at the New York State Psychiatric Institute at Columbia University as a research scientist, where I conducted psychological research on mood and anxiety disorders, as well as mental health disparities and gene-environment risk factors.

I also worked as an independent contractor for the Social Security Administration at Industrial Medicine Associates, Inc., evaluating individuals for psychiatric or psychological disabilities. Although my role was that of an evaluator, the individuals I evaluated often used the appointment as a therapeutic space.

In addition to working with Rivia Mind, I currently work as a licensed psychologist at the Manhattan Psychiatric Center of the New York State Office of Mental Health. I work within an inpatient facility, treating patients with severe mental illness. I have considerable experience in group therapy, including recovery-oriented cognitive therapy (CT-R), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), fitness restoration therapy for forensic patients and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). I also utilize social cognition and music therapies. These modalities help my patients to understand and accept their past, as well as achieve mindfulness and relaxation while learning new coping techniques. My patients are also empowered to be active and driven to recover and gain confidence in their ability to maintain an appropriate level of functioning upon discharge from the hospital.

I am most interested in psychological and neuropsychological evaluation as it is the cornerstone of mental health treatment. I see this as putting together the puzzle pieces to acquire the bigger picture of who someone is and what drives them. The information I obtain from evaluations can be used by a range of other professionals and my patients to facilitate their recovery or enhance their emotional growth.

I have worked with a range of individuals, including adults, teens and children. I believe that everyone has strengths they can build upon and is capable of living to their fullest potential. My approach to care is patient-centered. I hope to empower patients to be collaborators in understanding how they got to their current situation, insights into their current problems, and recovery and attainment of optimal mental health.

Why Work with Me?

I am passionate about psychological and neuropsychological evaluations, as they provide a comprehensive view that forms the foundation for effective mental health treatment. By piecing together the unique aspects of each individual, I aim to empower patients with valuable insights into their experiences and challenges. My patient-centered approach focuses on building upon each person’s strengths and fostering collaboration to support recovery and personal growth toward optimal mental health.
