I am a licensed clinical social worker specializing in parent education, clinical support, teenage and college-age transition/support, women’s issues, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, depression, and cancer recovery.
Before joining Rivia Mind, I worked for 15 years at an inpatient facility in various social work roles, including therapist, allied group work, and psychiatry technician. I have experience in a virtual OB/GYN practice with new parents, virtual work with children and families, outpatient geriatric therapy, grief and loss therapy at a hospital counseling center, and a virtual rehab program for clients with dual diagnoses, particularly men.
I served as the director of an alternative education school for pregnant and parenting girls, including a side program for emotionally challenged teenage girls. I treasure the diverse experiences of my career. I learned so much and was never bored!
I employ a variety of therapy modalities, such as meditation, guided imagery, grief and loss counseling, and mindfulness strategies. I am passionate about self-compassion tools, effective communication skills, emotional regulation strategies, and building self-worth and value, particularly when working with parents and women’s issues. My goal is to guide patients toward an increased sense of peace, self-worth, and well-being.
I utilize a theoretical framework centered on mindfulness and stress reduction and also incorporate motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) in my practice. I focus on helping patients engage in self-care and self-compassion, aiming to make my clients feel happier and lighter. My primary goal is to listen well, be fully present, and offer patients knowledge, guidance, and support.
