I am a psychiatric nurse practitioner who specializes in helping patients work through their anxious thought patterns. I primarily treat young adults and adults, helping them understand what they can and cannot control as a way of helping to alleviate anxiety. I work primarily through supportive therapy, though I am also comfortable discussing cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) concepts.
I am passionate about destigmatizing and normalizing mental healthcare. I have witnessed how much of an obstacle the stigmatization of mental health has been for individuals who struggle to address symptoms and for those wanting relief.
My approach involves understanding the patient’s mental health goals. I take time to help each individual develop skills that will bring them closer to their goals while also normalizing the struggle of the process. I meet clients where they are in their mental health journey to set reasonable and realistic expectations for treatment. I want patients to know that sessions with me are a safe space to discuss life’s stressors. My hope is for patients to feel validated in their life experiences and understand that they do not have to overcome their stressors alone.
