I am a therapist with experience in both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric units. I worked at the New York State Office of Mental Health, treating patients with chronic psychiatric conditions, and created a trauma response program. I managed several outpatient clinics and a 50-bed psychiatric inpatient unit, as well as developing a program for the treatment of co-occurring substance use and mental health conditions. I also helped to create a substance use treatment program and a dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) skills group at Valera Health.
I have experience treating substance use disorders, borderline personality disorder, depressive disorders and anxiety disorders. I have trained to practice motivational interviewing, which I use in my therapy approach. I believe in the power of compassion towards the self and others and believe that people can and do recover from mental health conditions, leading satisfying lives even when they continue to experience symptoms.
I work to build positive relationships with clients and help them build hope and skills to create a life they define as worth living. I use experiential strategies and skill-building to help people understand their concerns and make changes to support positive mental health.
