I’m committed to holding space for complexities and uncertainties on the path to transformation. My approach blends insight-oriented therapy — including psychodynamic work, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and parts work — with body-based, somatic, and trauma-informed practices like Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Being a partner in the healing process is something I value deeply, and I treat access to a person’s deepest vulnerabilities, fears, and experiences with the utmost respect. Bearing witness to someone’s story — their pain, history, and growth — in an intimate yet boundaried way is central to my practice.
My early outpatient counseling took place in a cross-cultural setting, where patients were navigating separation from home countries, language and cultural barriers, and racial microaggressions. I was also immersed in sex-positive therapy, co-facilitating a women’s empowerment group addressing attachment trauma, relationship concerns, body image, sexuality and values, sexual communication, and sexual development difficulty or trauma. That experience strengthened my belief that emotional, mental, physical, and sexual intimacy are deeply interconnected — and healing involves tending to all of these parts of the self.
In a community mental health clinic, the work was broad and often intense. I collaborated with teens and adults, drawing from multiple modalities and tailoring each approach to the individual. Moments of heightened intensity in sessions required paying close attention to my own emotional responses so I could remain grounded, thoughtful, and steady for the person sitting across from me. Providing loving, high-quality care to vulnerable members of our community was both demanding and deeply meaningful.
My work has spanned a range of conditions, including OCD, major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, PTSD, panic disorder, prolonged grief, ADHD, mood disorders, and personality disorders. Much of my practice centers on anxiety, trauma, and mood-related challenges, and I have completed EMDR basic training and am working toward EMDRIA certification as part of my continued commitment to deepening trauma-informed care.
I have partnered with people across age, race, religion, sexuality, and socioeconomic backgrounds. My identity as a queer woman informs my work with LGBTQ+ clients.
