Reshma Haque,

Therapist

, LMSW

I’m a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) with experience treating a wide range of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, adjustment disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), complex post-traumatic stress disorder (CPTSD), personality disorders, self-harm and suicidality. As a therapist, my mission is to help clients build a deeper understanding of themselves, develop healthier coping strategies, and enhance their emotional well-being in a way that aligns with their personal goals.

Most recently, I worked as a psychotherapist at Bleuler Psychotherapy Center, a non-profit community mental health clinic in Queens. This role allowed me to serve individuals in my community while delivering culturally competent care to historically underrepresented communities. My ability to provide therapy in Bangla has made mental healthcare more accessible to the Bengali community in the New York-area, which is something I’m deeply passionate about.

Previously, I interned at The Dorm, an intensive outpatient clinic specializing in young adults facing challenges such as substance use disorders, eating disorders, and borderline personality disorder. There, I provided individual and group therapy, including facilitating groups like Survivors Against Sexual Assault and Family Processing.

My approach to therapy is integrative and whole body, combining cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) skills, psychodynamic techniques, trauma-focused cognitive behavior therapy (TF-CBT), polyvagal theory, solution-focused strategies and a strengths-based perspective.

As a first-generation South Asian American woman, I am particularly dedicated to increasing mental health accessibility and reducing stigma within BIPOC communities, especially the South Asian population. My own experiences have given me a deep understanding of how cultural identity, discrimination, family dynamics, and acculturation influence mental health. I strive to create a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can explore these intersections and grow.

My therapeutic style is warm, collaborative, and client-centered. I respect my clients’ autonomy and am committed to empowering them to nurture their authentic selves, celebrate their resilience, and navigate life’s challenges with confidence. Together, we can work toward your goals and help you live a more fulfilling, balanced life.

Why Work with Me?

Having experienced the impact of stigmatization firsthand, I am committed to fostering greater awareness and openness in the therapeutic space for those who may have faced similar invalidation. I strive to bring representation and intersectionality to mental health care, creating a space where diverse voices and identities are heard and valued.
