The Florida Behavioral Health Conference, hosted each year by the Florida Behavioral Health Association (FBHA), is more than just the largest behavioral health gathering in the Southeast — it’s where our field comes together to pause, recharge, and push the conversation forward.
Providers, advocates, policymakers, and community leaders all show up with the same shared mission: to strengthen behavioral health and change lives. Year after year, the conference delivers the most up-to-date, evidence-based training for behavioral health professionals — a touchstone for anyone dedicated to advancing care.
This year’s event was packed with moments that reminded us why this work matters. From hands-on workshops to hallway conversations, every space felt charged with curiosity, connection, and commitment.
Rivia Mind was proud to take part. Having our Director of Marketing, Sara Moeinian, on the ground gave us the chance to both share our mission and soak in the perspectives of so many others doing vital work. The goal for us was simple — learn, listen, and bring back ideas that help us better support our patients and our partnering organizations.
One standout was Dr. Tracy Riley’s session on social media and mental health. The room was full; no surprise, given how much this topic touches every age group and community. Over the course of an hour, Dr. Riley guided us through the complicated relationship between social media and our well-being: the good (connection, belonging, community), the hard (comparison, anxiety, self-esteem struggles), and the practical strategies for navigating it all.
She broke down the psychology behind online interactions — the way likes, comments, and scrolling can impact how we see ourselves — and paired it with research on links between excessive social media use and challenges like depression, anxiety, and body image concerns. What made the session especially engaging were the takeaways: simple but powerful ways to create healthier digital habits, from mindful consumption and setting boundaries to practicing digital detoxes and leaning into self-care.
It was one of those sessions that stays with you long after it ends, because it’s not just theoretical. It’s something all of us encounter every day. We’re excited to continue unpacking this important topic in a future Rivia Mind blog post.
Beyond the sessions, the sheer scale of the conference (144 vendors and organizations under one roof!) was energizing. These connections matter. They’re how ideas become partnerships, and how partnerships translate into stronger systems of care for the communities we all serve.
We’re leaving this conference feeling grateful, inspired, and recharged. Thank you to the Florida Behavioral Health Association and everyone who made this gathering such a meaningful experience. Together, we’re building resilience, reducing stigma, and creating real pathways to healing.
At Rivia Mind, that’s the work we’re committed to every day — and being in rooms like this reminds us we’re not doing it alone.
