Clinician Spotlight: Nora Carnevale, LMSW

Nora Carnevale Clinician Spotlight

This week, we’re excited to highlight therapist Nora Carnevale, LMSW, who works with young adults and adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, and life’s many transitions. Nora also brings a unique perspective to supporting professionals in the corporate world, drawing from her own background in media to better understand the challenges of demanding careers, workplace pressures, and the process of carving your own path.

For Nora, therapy is about more than symptom relief,  it’s about building self-compassion, strengthening emotional regulation, and navigating interpersonal relationships, while reconnecting with your own strengths. “I deeply believe in the transformative potential of therapy and the power of self-exploration,” she shares.

Specialty & Approach to Therapy

Nora’s style is collaborative and rooted in the belief that each individual is the expert in their own story. Her goal is to create a safe, trauma-informed space where people feel comfortable being authentic and exploring what matters most to them.

She draws from a variety of evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Mindfulness practices often play a role in her work as well, helping patients stay present and respond with greater clarity and self-compassion.

“My approach is always warm and strengths-based,” Nora explains. “I want patients to know therapy is a space and time completely for you, so don’t hesitate to voice what you might be looking for as early on as you feel comfortable, and if you do not know exactly what you are looking for yet, that is okay too!”

Advice to Those Seeking Therapy

If you’re considering therapy for the first time, Nora encourages you to acknowledge the courage it takes to begin. “It can be hard to reach out and navigate the different resources available, so I hope people feel proud of themselves for taking that step.”

She reminds her patients that it’s okay not to have all the answers about what they want from therapy right away. Nora emphasizes that comfort and connection matter most. “The relationship between a provider and their patient is the foundation for all the benefits that can come from therapy, so making sure that you feel comfortable is key,” she says. And if the first match doesn’t feel right, that’s completely normal. “Experiencing positive changes from therapy can take time, so be patient with yourself and trust what led you to reach out in the first place.”

Finding Balance Through Self-Care

Outside of work, Nora unwinds by moving her body, whether that’s walking outdoors, cycling, or practicing yoga. She also values downtime with her loved ones (including her cats), reality TV breaks, and taking intentional time to rest and recharge.
