October 2023 Newsletter – A Look at Rivia Mind’s October

October 2023 Newsletter

It’s October! Temperatures are cooling down rapidly, leaves are changing colors, and those with children in school or jobs at school are fully back into the swing of things after summer vacation. You may even be gearing up for Halloween parties or looking forward to the holidays. Here at Rivia Mind, we have plenty to be excited about, as well as events we’re proud to have been a part of last month. Let’s take a look at them in today’s blog.

A Note From the Newsletter

With the distressing news of conflict around the world, many patients are finding themselves in need of more mental health support. We included this note in our recent newsletter, and we show it with you all now:

At Rivia Mind, we are committed to supporting the mental health of those in distress as a result of war. We have increased the frequency of sessions to ensure access so that our clinicians can offer support not only for those who are directly involved in the conflict, but also for their friends, family, and loved ones, and for everyone’s sense of safety and security in the world. We aim to be a force of healing in the world.

October Is ADHD Awareness Month!

ADHD Awareness Month AnnouncementHappy ADHD Awareness Month! Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder affects roughly 8.7 million Americans, including 9.4% of children. However, symptoms of ADHD can affect your life at any age — and it’s never too late for an ADHD evaluation. Our team of skilled clinicians is here to help.

In the meantime, we hope to have news for you next month about ways that we celebrated ADHD Awareness this month. One relevant announcement is that we have recently opened our ADHD Group Therapy! This group aims to help patients with ADHD make life changes that can improve their control over their symptoms in their work, personal life, and relationships.

Group is now open for enrollment, with sessions beginning on October 19 and running through December 14. Meetings are held on Thursdays from 5-6pm EST.

Other New Services

Rivia Mind is constantly looking for opportunities to expand our services and offer as much mental health support as possible. In addition to ADHD group therapy, we have begun two new services: couples therapy and substance abuse disorder.

Couples Therapy

We work with married and unmarried couples, both heterosexual and those within the LGBTQIA community. Couples therapy can sometimes be seen with trepidation, a fear that it spells the beginning of the end of your relationship. However, couples therapy can actually be a great way to make your relationship healthier and stronger than ever by learning clearer communication and understanding of each other. Learn more about our couples therapy services here.

Substance Use Disorder

As our team grows, we have expanded our services to include therapy for substance abuse disorder. Currently, this new service is only available to current patients. However, stay posted next month as we extend these services to new patients, as well.

The Rivia Mind Website Has a NEW Look

Old to New Site Announcement

Our website has recently undergone major upgrades, and we hope you enjoy our new online home base! We wanted to better reflect our values and services, as well as offer cleaner navigation for our patients and prospective patients to find exactly what they need when they need it.

Looking Back at National Psychotherapy Day

Last month, September 25th, was National Psychotherapy Day. Twenty-six Rivia Mind clinical and operative team members all got together for a team-wide meeting to honor the day and discuss how we could improve the mindset surrounding psychotherapy going forward. You can learn more about how we spent our National Psychotherapy Day in our blog: How Rivia Mind Celebrated National Psychotherapy Day.
