Clinician Spotlight: Amy Jones, LCSW

Clinician Spotlight Amy Jones

Amy Jones brings something rare to her work: decades of clinical experience and the kind of directness that helps people move forward. She has spent years working with individuals navigating depression, anxiety, late-in-life ADHD diagnoses, and emotional challenges like anger. She approaches each person with the same belief that therapy, if done right, can improve almost anyone’s life.

Specialty & Approach to Therapy

Amy describes her approach as eclectic — and she means that in the best way. Rather than applying a fixed framework, she builds her interventions around what each person is actually seeking help for. She tends to be direct and empathetic, and particularly enjoys working with people who want to be both challenged and supported in equal measure.

For Amy, therapy is a space to discuss any concern, process difficult emotions, and build coping skills — regardless of whether someone is dealing with insomnia, relationship strain, or something they’ve never said out loud before.

Advice for Those Seeking Mental Health Care

Amy’s advice to anyone starting therapy for the first time is both honest and encouraging: “Please be kind to yourself, and identify if you feel that the person you meet with is a good fit. If you don’t feel comfortable, for any reason, please let your therapist know. If it’s something that can be addressed, try to talk it out! If not, don’t give up. Sometimes it takes a few visits to feel comfortable, and sometimes a different therapist will be a better fit.”

When it comes to choosing a provider, Amy recommends looking beyond credentials and paying attention to each clinician’s stated style. Reviews can also be a useful window into what working with someone actually feels like.

Finding Balance Through Self-Care

After a long day, Amy heads to her back porch with her dogs, meditates, and then does what she loves most — cooking dinner. Evenings wind down with a good book, and weekends are reserved for spending time with her youngest son, which is usually centered around a show and Thai food.
