At Rivia Mind, we believe in constantly improving what we do with new mental health providers, new services, as well as opportunities to engage with local communities. May has been a busy month for us on many fronts, and we’re excited to share everything we’ve been up to. You can also get regular updates about what we’re doing when you subscribe to our monthly newsletter.
Without further ado, let’s get into a roundup of what Rivia Mind has been up to this month:
NAMIWalks NYC Mental Health Street Fest
NAMIWalks is more than just a local event to our NYC office. It’s the biggest mental health event in the nation, going 17 years strong. Thousands of supporters flood the streets, share stories of their mental health journey, raise money for mental health resources, and enjoy live performances. And this year, on May 20 for the 17th Annual NAMIWalks NYC Mental Health Street Fest, Rivia Mind was a part of it all.
The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) is a foremost authority when it comes to mental illness resources and support. Their mission is perfectly aligned with our integral values of mental wellness for the full self. At this year’s event, Rivia Mind sponsored NAMIWalks and met our internal fundraising goal of $1,000. These funds will help our NYC office better support our clients on their own journey to mental wellness. We were thrilled by everyone who came out to the event, and by the support received for various giants in the mental health world.
DBT Group — Summer Sessions
We are also happy to announce our open enrollment for our Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) summer sessions. DBT is an intensive behavioral therapy, similar to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) that combines individual sessions with group sessions. In these group sessions, patients can learn skills such as mindfulness, distress tolerance, radical acceptance, and more.
Our summer sessions will take place every Thursday at 10am eastern time from June 15th through September 28th. Group sessions are an essential part of the DBT program. If you are in the program or interested in the program, we encourage you to sign up. The group can accommodate 6-8 patients who meet some or all of the following criteria:
- Engage in self-destructive behaviors (self-harm, disordered eating, substance abuse, etc.)
- Frequently struggle to manage moods
- Frequently engage in conflicts with family, friends, or coworkers and recognize their own reactions as a contributing factor to those conflicts
- Actively engage in individual therapy with a Rivia Mind clinician or in the process of beginning therapy with a Rivia Mind clinician
- Willing to commit to the group details
- Open and willing to change
To learn more about joining our DBT group for the summer sessions, email us at info@riviamind.com or call (212) 203-1773.

Our Top Services in May
We treat over 60 different conditions at Rivia Mind, across locations in four different states. We believe in a holistic approach to mental wellness, beginning with helping individuals reach their personal goals and then branching out to their interpersonal goals.
Our top services this month include:
- Mental Health and Nutrition. Your mental health can be very impacted by the nutrition you take in, and your diet can be impacted by your mental health. Our psych nutritions can help to balance both for better wellness.
- Women’s Mental Health Services. These services cover pregnancy planning, fertility concerns, pregnancy loss, birth trauma, premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PDD), and more.
- Neuropsychological Testing. Our neuropsychological testing services help to measure cognitive performance in your brain. They may also be used to narrow down certain mental health diagnoses.
With May coming to a close, we’re pleased to have had so many opportunities to better the lives of our patients and our community. But here at Rivia Mind, we work all year to provide excellent and compassionate mental wellness services.
