June has been a big month for Rivia Mind. We served our community through both Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month and PTSD Awareness Month. We committed to shining a light on the communities and conditions that need mental healthcare and spreading accessible, competent, and compassionate care throughout our service areas. We also celebrated Pride Month and our LBGTQ+ population, including both patients and clinicians.
And on top of it all, we’ve continued to welcome new providers to our team. So let’s dive into the many things that Rivia Mind has been up to this month!
June Monthly Observances
This month was Men’s Mental Health Month, PTSD Awareness Month, and Pride Month. All three observances are critical to Rivia Mind’s mission of reducing stigma and spreading accessible mental healthcare. To that end, we created resources for each observance. You can find them here:
We also launched a “Do You Have PTSD?” Test. Some causes of PTSD can be:
- a serious accident or fire
- a physical or sexual assault or abuse
- an earthquake or flood
- a war
- seeing someone be killed or seriously injured
- having a loved one die through homicide or suicide
However, just because you haven’t experienced something as obviously traumatic does not necessarily mean that you do not have PTSD. This test can help you gain clarity on your symptoms and experiences. The aim of this test is to help you see if you meet the criteria for PTSD and encourage you to reach out for mental health support if you do. This test should not serve as a substitute for a diagnosis.
Upcoming Holiday Closures
The front desk will be closed at Rivia Mind on Thursday, July 4, 2024 for the Fourth of July. If this falls on the day that your appointments usually take place, please coordinate with your provider to confirm or reschedule your appointment.
