Clinician Spotlight: Hannah Drainville, MHC

Clinician Spotlight: Hannah Drainville

Hannah Drainville, MHC, believes that meaningful progress in therapy starts with one thing: trust. Her approach centers on building a strong therapeutic relationship from the very first session, creating a space where patients feel safe enough to be open and honest with their feelings. Hannah collaborates closely with each person to understand their goals and shape treatment together. She draws on evidence-based methods that adapt to the individual, rather than the other way around.

Specialty & Approach to Therapy

Hannah specializes in anxiety, depression, ADHD, and trauma-related disorders, with experience in supporting patients from childhood through senior adulthood. She has worked across settings, from a therapeutic school serving children with emotional and behavioral challenges, to an outpatient mental health practice where she built her ability to meet a wide range of clinical needs. At this stage of her career, she is especially focused on supporting college-aged young adults and older adults.

Her clinical work draws from cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, person-centered therapy, and solution-focused brief therapy. As Hannah puts it, she focuses first on understanding a person before introducing any modality.

Hannah describes her style as collaborative, empathic, and grounded in meeting clients where they are. “I prioritize creating a warm, non-judgmental space where clients feel safe, understood, and respected.”

Advice for Those Seeking Mental Health Care

For anyone considering therapy for the first time, Hannah’s message is simple: “Give yourself permission to go at your own pace. Starting therapy can feel vulnerable, and that is completely normal.” She encourages people to ask questions, stay curious, and remember that therapy is a process built together.

When it comes to choosing a provider, Hannah emphasizes fit above all else. Look for someone you feel genuinely comfortable opening up to, and don’t be afraid to speak up about what you need.

Finding Balance Through Self-Care

When Hannah steps away from the work, she recharges by getting outside for a walk regardless of the weather, reading, watching television, and spending time with the people she cares about. For Hannah, rest and connection are not afterthoughts. They’re part of how she stays present for her patients.
